Our R&D team develops new materials, methods, processes and applications, making MULLIONTM a strong player. Knowledge of markets, know-how, the most effective test equipment and a high level of knowledge and experience about norms and standards are only a few of our advantages.
As part of the SIOEN Industries Group, our R&D centres and laboratories are equiped with the most sophisticated test equipment in all areas. Tactile and breaking strength, flame retardancy, chemical resistance, water column, colour fastness, ageing and other tests are all performed in-house and SIOEN can stand comparison with the world’s leading research institutions in these areas.
In 2005, the Apparel Division constructed a new ultramodern laboratory in Ardooie (BELGIUM), since complying with standards and obtaining the associated certificates is one of SIOEN’s & MULLION’s strengths.
MULLIONTM also has the in-house facility and equipment to test and check buoyancy measurements of both inflatable lifejackets and inherent foam floatation suits and buoyancy aids.
MULLIONTM conducts extensive testing on all new products at Fleetwood Nautical Test House in the U.K. . Fleetwood Test House is an idependent approved test house for the testing and approval of all marine clothing, life-saving appliances and equipment to the relevant standards.
Other test houses that MULLIONTM uses are the British Textile Technology Group (BTTG); Centexbel; Cord Group - Canada; Thelma – Norway.MULLIONTM aslo regulary carries out compatibility testing with customers to ensure our products are Compatible with the wearers’ own PPE. This can be in a local swimming pool, at sea, or within Professional facilities suches as Fleetwood Nautical College and the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI)
