FOSC - FLEETWOOD OFFSHORE SURVIVAL CENTRE


Activities:  
Fleetwood Offshore Survival Centre (FOSC) was formed during the late 1980’s to offer survival training to the Merchant Navy and the Offshore Oil/Gas Industries. The centre is situated at Blackpool and The Fylde College’s Nautical Campus on the outskirts of Fleetwood.

NMCI - NATIONAL MARITIME COLLEGE OF IRELAND TESTING FACILITY


Activities:  
The NMCI is a constituent college of Cork Institute of Technology in a partnership with the Irish Naval Service and Focus Education Ltd. The College caters for the education and training needs of the merchant navy and the non-military training requirements of the Naval Service and provides a broad range of training services for the maritime industry. Focus Education Ltd. is the private partner with responsibility for facilities management at the College.

IMO - INTERNATIONAL MARITIME ORGANIZATION


Activities:  
The Convention establishing the International Maritime Organization (IMO) was adopted in Geneva in 1948 and IMO first met in 1959. IMO's main task has been to develop and maintain a comprehensive regulatory framework for shipping and its remit today includes safety, environmental concerns, legal matters, technical co-operation, maritime security and the efficiency of shipping.

MARED - NATIONAL MARITIME COLLEGE OF IRELAND TESTING FACILITY


Activities:  
MarED is the co-ordination group for the Notified Bodies assigned by the Member States to carry out the conformity assessment procedures referred to in the Marine Equipment Directive (COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 96/98/EC of 20 December 1996 on Marine Equipment). The MarED Website contains information about the MarED Group, Notified Bodies and the Marine Equipment Directive.

MCA - MARITIME AND COASTGUARD AGENCY


Activities:  
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is a UK executive agency working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and International maritime law and safety policy.
This involves coordinating search and rescue (SAR) at sea through Her Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG), ensuring that ships meet international and UK safety standards, monitoring and preventing coastal water pollution and testing and licensing ships' officers and crew to STCW requirements.
